Judge blocks ban on non-compete agreeements

As a general principle then parties should be allowed to enter agreements they want to enter.

But I suspect that a huge portion of employees do not pay attention to non-compete clause when they are hired. So it may not be a fair agreement.

Instead of a ban then I suggest that compensation is made voluntary. If the company want a non-compete agreement and are willing to pay a monthly compensation after the employee has left as long as the agreement is active, then fair. If the company is not willing to pay, then it is obviously not important for the company and the agreement shoudl be void.
