Supporting other languages than SQL for SP and UDF are actually common. But JavaScript is an unusual choice. Oracle DB supports Java and C#/VB.NET (Windows only). IBM DB2 supports Java. Sybase ASE supports Java. MS SQLServer supports C#/VB.NET. PostgreSQL supports Tcl, Perl and Python.
(PostgreSQL has third party support for Java and JavaScript)
Guess MySQL is more like PostgreSQL in this regard!
