AWS drops support for PHP 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 8.0 because they are all EOL.
No reason to be surprised. EOL mean just that: EOL.
An EOL version of PHP may be fine to host your cats homepage, but no serious business should rely on an EOL version of PHP.
