Original link: Australia moves to drop some cryptography by 2030 – before quantum carves it up / TheRegister.
The australian government has just stated that the traditional assymetric encryption algorithms used for key exchange in most modern encrypted traffic RSA, ECDSA and ECDH are not approved for use in high security equipment after 2030 due to their vulnerability to quantum cumpters.
Everybody recognizes the problem. And new quantum resistant algorithms has recently been created. But Australia are way ahead of the rest of the world with this initiative.
They have also banned SHA-224 and SHA-256, which puzzles most experts.
