I find it hard to see why a every one from huge family of software development methodologies like agile (from XP to SAFe) should be unsuited for AI projects.
But it seems very likely that the nature of AI projects are different from many other types of AI projects, so trying to apply the exact same methodology to AI projects as used in other projects may not be optimal.
