This file system was pretty hot in the beginning of the century. No more.
And because maintenance has started to become a problem (supposedly it is not 2038 ready!), then it has now been removed from the linux kernel.
Some of the attention it got is probbaly because the creator is sitting in a Californian prison for murdering his wife.
