Long term the deal looks very good. Venezuela will make much needed money. US will get a good return on investment. Global oil production will go up and keep oil prices under control, which is good for the world economy.
People just need to understand that the new oil production will not start tomorrow or next year. It takes time to develop new oil fields. Especially with the Venezuela oil type (very heavy).
