In recent years Lindsey Graham often got labeled "close Trump ally".
But that is not an accurate description. He had his own opinions. He was a republican and a "want to get things done" politician - that combo would make him an ally of any republican president. And on key policies he had a different vision than Trump.
Foreign policy wise he was pro NATO, against Russia and pro Ukraine. More traditionbal republican than MAGA movement.
And regarding immigration policy he was something as unsual as someone that wanted working solutions. Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006, Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007 and Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013.
