A-10 has been expected to be phased out ASAP for some time.
The reason is that a slow non-stealth ground attack plane does not have a change against an effective air defense with SAM's and 4.5G/5G fighters. A-10 wil not be useful against Russia or China.
That has not changed. But the perspective have changed.
First the war in Ukraine has shown that numbers matter. Replacing many old X with fewer more capable new X may not be a good strategy. USAF need more planes. All kinds.
Second there are other opponents than Russia and China - the A-10 has proven itself to be very effective against Iranian ships.
