Trump tariffs shutdown by supreme court

Not really surprising. Taxes is the domain of congress. Tariffs is a tax - a tax on import.

But tariffs are not out of the political debate.

First question is whether companies that have already paid tariffs can get them refunded. No that is not obvious, because they likely have passed the cost on to their customers. Several companies has already sued for refunds.

The tariffs can come back if congress make them law. The general assumption is that will not happen. Especially not in an election year.

In the mean time Trump has introduced replacement tariff of 10% based on another law. I believe that has a stronger legal foundation. But there is a limit of 150 days - after that congress will still need to approve.
