No surprise that such tools get created. Python code is becoming increasing important and some users want the code checked.
That the tools are written in Rust is probably more an indication of that Rust is considered very interesting by language people than because of Rust being better than other langues to write tyoe checker in. Heck - the type checker could have been written in Python!!
