Everybody know that platform software even today is all C/C++. Right? Or maybe not!
I saw a list on LinkedIn with platform software for modern cloud container micro-service architecture. And I tried counting:
Mulesoft – Java Consul – Go Eureka – Java ZooKeeper – Java Kong – Lua Ocelot – C# Nginx – C Traefik – Go Seesaw – Go Redis – C Hazelcast – Java Memcache – C PostgreSQL - C Oracle - C MySQL – C++ DynamoDB - Java MongoDB – C++ Cassandrea – Java HBase – Java Zipkin – Java Swarm – Go Kubernetes – Go TerraForm – Go Kibana – TypeScript Prometheus – Go Grafana – TypeScript + Go Kafka – Java RabbitMQ – Erlang Docker – Go Podman - Go LXC - Cand counting:
Go - 9.5 C/C++ - 8 Java - 8 TypeScript - 1.5 C# - 1 Erlang - 1 Lua - 1
The list is not authoritative in any way, but I think that no matter how one picked the list, then it will not be all C/C++ - it will be C/C++, Go and Java sharing top 3.
