There is a lot of talk about H1B visa undercutting pay of US workers and being a reason why unemployment for newly graduates are rather high.

The law require H1B visa holders to be paid "prevailing wage", but there is some scepticism about whether that is reality.

Here are some numbers for pay of H1B visa holders in US banks. Facts.

First it is very clear that the average H1B visa holder is not competing with newly US Graduates. The average pays of 140-180 K$ indicate that the H1B visa holders are senior software engineers with many years of experience and middle management also with significant experience.

It can not be ruled out that US senior software engineers and middle management would be able to get higher pay if there were no H1B visas. But we are not talking struggling middle class here.
