Yes - Cobol is still widely used in the financial sector. Yes - a lot of Cobol programmers are retiring. Yes - some banks may be looking for replacement.
But the problem is not Cobol skills. Cobol is a relative easy language to learn. Any Java/C#/Python programmer can learn Cobol in a month or two.
There is a small problem with other technical skills: mainframe, CICS, JCL etc..
And there is a huge problem with domain knowledge.
