Original link: Bill Atkinson won the respect of Steve Jobs by creating a high-level programming language in just 6 days / Fortune.
He was the 51st employee at Apple.
And he created Apple Pascal in 6 days. Impressive.
First the Apple language story: Apple I used Basic, later Apple computers used Apple Pascal, Motorola 68K based Mac's used Object Pascal, later Mac's use Objective-C.
Second the Pascal story: Niklaus Wirth invented Pascal in 1970, Bill Atkinson @ Apple created Apple Pascal (procedural) in 1978, Larry Tesler @ Apple created Object Pascal (object oriented) in 1986, Anders Hejlsberh @ Borland created TurboPascal (procedural) in 1983, in 1989 Borland adopted Apple's Object Pascal extensions in Turbo Pascal 5.5 to become object oriented and it was carried over in Delphi in 1995.
