I understand Cobol and Modula-2. Cobol is still widely used. Modula-2 is definitely niche but is still used. Nobody use Algol 68 today. Nobody used Algol 68 25 years ago. Very few used Algol 68 50 years ago.
Algol was never a used in practice language. Algol was a technoplogical demonstration that had huge influence on almost all following programming languages. Both begin end languages and curly bracket languages.
