I think the growth in code is becoming a problem!
7.1 with 33.0 MLOC and 7.2 with 33.7 MLOC indicate a growth rate of 2% per release. That may not sound as much, but with new releases like every 2 months, then it compounds quickly.
A projection says: summer 2027 - 38 MLOC, summer 2028 - 42.5 MLOC, summer 2029 - 48 MLOC, summer 2030 - 54 MLOC.
I would say the future looks good for BSD! :-)
